• Students will be assessed in a variety of ways on a daily basis. • Three primary forms of assessment are: o Diagnostic—not graded/used to assess knowledge of concepts (DRA, Quarterly MAP Tests, SOLs) o Formative—to check understanding (Exit Tickets, Classwork) o Summative—graded assignments (Tests, Projects, Quizzes) • The following grading scale is used when grading work: o 4—EXCEEDS the standard (higher level thinking) o 3—Meets the standard (they did what the SOL says) o 2—Progressing towards the standard o 1—Not meeting the standard
• If your child will be absent or there is a change in dismissal, PLEASE fill out the form towards the bottom of Pinebrook’s homepage. If a change of dismissal is not received before 2: 15 pm, they will be sent home their usual way. • It is also extremely helpful if you email/text me as well! We don’t always hear about your child being out. • If you plan to take your child out of school for an extended period of time, please contact out administration team and let them know in advance (LCPS Policy!)
• Flexible seating is the idea that when students are given choice in how they sit when learning, their attention and performance increases. • Students will not have assigned seats, but instead will be able to choose where they want to sit. This option could change multiple times a day, my decision or theirs. • Student supplies are kept in their numbered bins • Seating options allow students the ability to easily collaborate with one another, as well as allow them to get some needed movement throughout the day.
• Students arrive promptly, unpack, and begin morning work/duties. • Students are to stay on task and not disrupt the learning process. • Students will be responsible for coming to class every day prepared and will consistently produce quality work. • Students will be respectful at all times toward everyone they come in contact with. • Students will be positive role models for younger students. • Students will copy their homework into their agenda before they leave school and hand in homework when it is due. o STUDENTS MAY NOT CALL HOME FOR HOMEWORK o Frequent incomplete homework will be documented on their report card
• PAWS (individual students)—pulled for prizes at the end of the week (see prize sheet in packet) • Swag Stickers (individual students) • Bingo Points (whole class) • P. A. W.
