Jesus poured out His own blood for you and me. He willingly shed it, gave it. By what means did our beloved Savior pour at His blood? • Scourged (Matt. 27: 26) • Beaten on His thorn-crowned head (Matt. 27: 29 -30) • Nailed to a cross (Matt. 27: 35) • Pierced in His side (John 19: 34)
Life is in the blood. God set aside blood to make atonement (Leviticus 17: 5 -6, 10 -11). Jesus has entered the perfect holy place through His own blood (Hebrews 9: 11 -12). • He now appears in God’s presence (Heb. 9: 24 -25). • We are redeemed with precious blood (1 Pet. 1: 18 -19)
Life is in the blood. The new man’s life is in the blood of Jesus. • “How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? ” (Heb. 9: 14) • Revelation 1: 5; 5: 9; 7: 14
The cup of the Lord’s Supper is Christ’s blood of the New Covenant. The fruit of the vine – His blood of the covenant, the new covenant in His blood (Mark 14: 24; 1 Corinthians 11: 25). • When we drink worthily in communing, we metaphorically drink His blood in memory.
