Statistics ¨ Over half of African Americans between the ages of 24 and 34 have never married. ¨ African Americans have the highest divorce rate of all the major ethnic groups in the US. ¨ More than two-thirds of African American children are born to unmarried parents. ¨ 62% of African American households are headed by a single parent. ¨ There is a large disparity between the number of available women and men.
