FIRST THERE WAS ROTARY 1905 - Rotary Club of Chicago was founded by Paul Harris 1921 - Rotary clubs are in 6 continents 2019 - Rotary is a global network of 1. 2 million members Rotary members believe that we have a shared responsibility to take action on our world’s most persistent issues. Our 35, 000+ clubs work together to: • Promote peace • Fight disease • Provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene • Save mothers and children • Support education • Grow local economies

YOUTH PROGRAMS RYLA An intensive leadership experience where teens learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers and peer mentors ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE Students learn a new language, discover another culture, and truly become global citizens. Exchanges for students ages 15 -19 are sponsored by Rotary clubs in more than 100 countries.
INTERACT • Launched in 1962 (Rotary Club of Melbourne, FL) • “Inter” for international and “act” for action • Today there are over 7, 200 Interact clubs with more than 155, 000 members in 88 countries • Goal to provide opportunities for young people to create greater understanding and goodwill with youth throughout the world
ROTARACT Rotaract members form a global community of young adults taking action for positive change, sharing ideas, and looking at the world’s challenges in new ways. Clubs engage in hands-on service projects, social activities, and professional development opportunities
ROTARACT PRECONVENTION MEETING • The first one was held in Seoul, Korea in 1989 with more than 450 Rotaractors • 1992 - The RI board established World Rotaract Week, which is celebrated the week of March 13 to commemorate the first Rotaract Club
ROTARACT E-CLUB: NO BORDERS ROTARACT No. Borders Rotaract is a club for students and professionals ages 18 -30. They bring together people from across the world to exchange ideas with global leaders, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service. They work side by side with our fellow Rotarians and Rotaractors as well as local community members to take action through service.
NEW GENERATIONS SERVICE EXCHANGE What are the benefits? Make connections with serviceminded community leaders in another country Learn another language Build your professional skills and gain international experience Travel and explore a new culture while giving back through service What is an exchange like? With your host Rotary district, you’ll plan activities that can include networking, relationship building, humanitarian service, professional development, and leadership training. Exchanges: Last from a few weeks to six months Can be arranged for individuals or groups Need not be reciprocal Who can apply? University students and professionals up to age 30 — including current and former Rotaractors and former Interactors, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards participants, and Youth Exchange students — are encouraged to apply. You don’t have to be a member of Rotary to participate in an exchange.
ROTARY FRIENDSHIP EXCHANGE Friendship Exchange is an international exchange program for Rotary members and friends that allows participants to take turns hosting one another in their homes and clubs. Participants may travel as individuals, couples, families, or groups, and may be Rotary members or not.
