What to Look For in a Church Colossians 2: 1 -5

Colossians 2 1 I want you to know how much I am struggling for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not me personally. My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 2

Colossians 2 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by finesounding arguments. 4 For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how orderly you are and how firm your faith in Christ is. 5

1. Look for a church that encourages your heart.

Ephesians 4: 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth, but only what is helpful for building up others according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

2. Look for a church that is united in love.

3. Look for a church that lifts up Jesus.

Acts 4: 12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

John 14: 6 I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

4. Look for a church with a commitment to the truth.

Does it stand the test of Scripture? Is this taught in the Bible?

5. Look for a church that is consistent.

Colossians 2: 5 For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how orderly you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.
