What kind of media institutions might distribute your media product and why?
WHSmith sells stationary supplies, books and magazines that are quite popular such as Vogue, many Teen magazines, many music magazines, cooking magazines and sport magazines. The only issue with WHSmith is that as well as not being commonly placed in high streets etc, my young target audience are less likely to go here unless they really need to so they wouldn’t be able to buy my product.
Newsagents are most common places where people buy things such as magazines. WHSmith is a good store for purchasing things like magazines but are not as common as newsagents. Newsagents tend to be a lot more common and is much easier access to by magazines. The types of magazines is also a larger selection in newsagents as WHSmith only has a limited amount as they focus on books.
Supermarkets are also a great option for the distribution of my media product because they are also very common and easy access for everyone. They also have a large variety of magazines ranging from fashion, sports and music. Supermarkets such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s are great options for distribution.
The best place to distribute my product would probably be supermarkets or newsagents as my target audience is more likely to be at these places or go to these places to buy magazines.
