What is the Second Step program? n n It is a universal, classroom-based curriculum.

What is the Second Step program? n n It is a universal, classroom-based curriculum. It is based on research. It teaches students social and emotional skills to help them be successful in school. It can be used to support students as a tier II strategy and can inform tier III interventions.

Second Step lessons: n n n Have 20– 25 lessons per grade level. Main

Second Step lessons: n n n Have 20– 25 lessons per grade level. Main lesson is taught once a week, with daily follow-up activities. Vary in length from 20 minutes in Pre/K to 30 - 45 minutes 3 rd-5 th. Are taught sequentially by the classroom teacher and reinforced by the entire staff. Activities provided to integrate skills into different content/ academic areas
