What is The Rooftop? The Rooftop’ is a global movement that invites churches to ‘join Jesus in His Mission’. ‘To seek and to save what was lost’ (Luke 19: 10). God is passionate about lost people being reached – ‘Heaven rejoices over one sinner who repents’! Sadly many who attend church regularly do not share His passion and do not feel confident, motivated, or equipped to tell others about Jesus. As a result of this lack of faith sharing there are now millions of people growing up in a world where they know little or nothing of Jesus – a new reality! For this to change and for these people to hear it is time for a new movement that will fill Christians across the world with the passion and confidence to join in with the mission of Jesus in the communities where they live. The Church is Facing a New Reality A Crisis of Opportunity Across the world new generations of people are no longer attending church as their parents and grandparents did. The number of people who don’t know Jesus is growing rapidly and this is resulting in a whole new reality. Millions upon millions of people living in what were once thought to be ‘Christian’ nations now face a lost eternity and they don’t even know it! As this new reality increases and spreads many churches are experiencing the growing sense of a crisis that is looming. This crisis is often understood in terms of fewer people attending church and many churches are asking: ‘How do we get people into church? ’ Our failure to attract more people to our meetings can create a sense of crisis. Or we could ask a different question: ‘How do we join in with the mission of Jesus and reach lost people beyond the walls of the church’? Seeking to answer this question opens the door to endless possibilities! This is at the heart of ‘The Rooftop’. Every day people pass by church buildings on their way to work, the shops, to visit family and friends, to play sport or enjoy a leisure activity…. As they do these things they never think of coming into our building to join in with what we are doing – even if the doors are open! They will only be reached as we live among them and share what we know of Jesus. The Rooftop Experience ‘The Rooftop’ is based upon the moment in scripture when Peter went to a Rooftop to pray (Acts 10: 111: 18) On the rooftop Peter had an Encounter with God and received a fresh vision of God’s heart for the lost. He then went beyond the walls of all that was familiar to engage with lost people – as a result, God’s Kingdom could expand across the world. Peter’s experience on ‘The Rooftop’ enabled him to see that to reach the world he needed to look at things from God’s perspective and then join in with what he saw God doing rather than continue with what he had always done and ask God to join in with him. It is critical that the church today, facing a new reality, looks at the world from God’s perspective and then joins Jesus in His mission. To help churches to do this ‘The Rooftop’ has introduced The Rooftop 3 step process.

On The Rooftop Peter received a vision from God that changed his entire perspective. As a result he shared the message of Jesus beyond the walls of all that he had become familiar with. As we face a new reality we need to see the world from God’s perspective and then join Jesus in His mission to reach people beyond the walls.
