What is Read, Deed, and Run? RDR is an all encompassing program for the WHOLE child. Students in grades 4 & 5, commit to a 25 week program in which they will read 26 books(or 2600 pages), perform 26 good deeds in the community, and run a total of 26. 2 miles Students run their final 1. 2 miles in a “race” to earn their Finisher’s t-shirt and medal.

Run Requirements § Students are required to Run a total of 25 miles throughout the course of the program. § Running will be completed out on the school track. § Students will need to dress appropriately – shorts, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. § The final race will take place on Saturday, May 7 at Rhodes Stadium for the last 1. 2 miles

Read Requirements Students are required to read 26 books or 2600 pages. Books read

Read Requirements Students are required to read 26 books or 2600 pages. Books read in school can count towards the reading requirement. Books must be on the student’s reading level. Record of the books read will be kept in the student’s RDR book.

Deed Requirements Students are required to perform 26 deeds in or for the community.

Meetings § On the Mondays that we are on campus for a Run and

Meetings § On the Mondays that we are on campus for a Run and a Deed, the kids will meet in Mrs. Martins room after school. They need to always bring a book to ready § Students will be divided into 2 groups and will rotate running and completing an on campus deed. § Students will also be divided into teams and assigned a “Coach” that will check with log books at meetings and be there to answer and questions they might have. § Attendance is mandatory but if you are going to be absent, you must notify Mrs. Troncale Pick up time is 4: 30. Please be outside @ 4: 30

Meetings Weather – If it is raining and we need cancel RDR due to weather, an email will go out to parents AND students will call home to make sure parents are aware. Students need to dress appropriately for the weather, if its too cold, we will run inside the gym. Water – please send a water bottle to school with your child that can be refilled throughout the day. It is VERY important that your child wears his/her RDR shirt on RDR days. This is for their safety and protection while we run(we will be ordering these soon) We will send the RDR list to the office so they are aware of your child’s transportation change.
