What is Praise and Worship? Praise is recognizing the goodness of God and magnify Him. Worship is anything a person does to show love or respect to God. Did you know that God still wants us to praise and worship Him even when things are hard?

Daniel and the Lion’s Den Daniel 6: 1 -28

King Darius appointed Daniel as one of the three leaders over his kingdom. Daniel did a better job than the other two leaders. The King planned to one day put him in charge over the kingdom.

Some of the leaders overheard the king's plan to appoint Daniel over the kingdom so they tried to find something wrong with his leadership. They couldn't find any faults because Daniel never did anything wrong. He always did what he was suppose to do. The men knew the only fault they could find was to do something that would connect with Daniel and his relationship with God.

The leaders went to the king. They suggested the king make a law that anyone who prays to any god or other human except the king should be put in the lion's den. The king liked the idea so he put it in writing. Once a law was put it writing, it could not be changed.

Daniel had been made aware of the new law. But, in spite of that, he still continued to pray to God three times a day.

Some of the leaders who saw Daniel praying went to the king and reminded him about the law he signed saying that anyone who prays to any god or other human being except the king should be put in the lion's den. The king responded by saying the law must be obeyed. It cannot be changed.

After the king said the law must be obeyed, the rulers told the king that Daniel violates the law because he still prays to his God, even up to 3 times a day. When the king heard this, he became very upset. He didn't want Danield to be harmed in any way. He tried to do everything he could to save Daniel up until sunset that day. But no use, Daniel had to go to the lion's den because he broke the new law.

The king gave the order. Daniel was put in the lion's den. But the king said to Daniel, "you always serve your God. May he save you. “ A stone was placed over the opening.

That night the king couldn't eat dinner or sleep.

The next morning, the king awoke and hurried to the lion's den. When he got there, he called out to Daniel.

Daniel answered. He said to the king, "my God shut the mouths of the lions. I am not hurt at all. " The king was filled with joy. He ordered his servants to get Daniel out of the den.

The king gave an order to the men who set up Daniel. They were thrown into the lions den, along with their wives and children. The lions ate everyone.

The king wrote to people in other nations about the event. He even ordered the people in his kingdom to worship Daniel's God. Daniel was successful the entire time the king was in command.

Praise is recognizing the goodness of God and magnify Him. Worship is anything a person does to show love or respect to God. In today’s story, Daniel worshipped God even when it was hard. God doesn’t want us to let our circumstances affect whether or not we praise Him. Just like Daniel worshipped God in his bad time, God wants us to be like Daniel and worship Him in bad times.
