What is Credit By Exam? • A way for students to earn real college credits • CLEP: College Level Examination Program • Pass CLEP exams offered by the College Board • Modern States provides $87 exam fee voucher • Available to the first 20, 000 students • Passing rate exceeds 70 percent

Modern States & Thomas Jefferson HS • TJHS teachers integrated Modern States’ courses and resources into their existing curriculum at no cost, with access to: o High quality instruction from highly regarded collegiate professors o Instructional modules, study materials and supplementary texts o CLEP exam vouchers once all modules are completed • Modern States provides the tools and funding necessary to add value to existing upperclassmen courses • Students essentially earn high school and college credit concurrently
Modern States & Thomas Jefferson HS • Modern States made the CLEP test accessible to TJHS students of all socioeconomic backgrounds and fostered their capacity for college success: o 2015 -2016: CLEP pilot - 9 tests taken, 4 passing tests (no vouchers) o 2016 -2017: 57 tests taken, 35 passing tests (61%) o 2017 -2018: 266 tests taken, 172 passing tests (65%) ***$27, 455 of tests taken on Modern States vouchers*** ***Hundreds of thousands of dollars in college costs saved by TJHS students ***
