WHAT IS MODEL UNITED NATIONS?

Model United Nations is a simulation of the United Nations where students group up to form countries in UN committees. Students will cooperate with other delegates in their committees to formulate resolutions that address the topics given!

Originally a branch under Youth and Government, Model UN has amassed hundreds of students and prides itself over its ability to teach students about diplomacy and international relations. Students in Model UN must be prepared to - Research - Speak publically - Write topic papers - Think Critically - Cooperate and Teamwork - Utilize Leadership Skills - Debate This makes it a great tool in enhancing these skills.

WHAT MUN CAN DO FOR THE DELEGATES Participating in Model UN is meant to aid in fostering negotiation tactics and communication skills. It is a great program for students as it encourages them to step out of their comfort zone and work towards the common goal of achieving stability within the international community with the very relevant topics and concerns provided. Additionally, students are able to make lifelong friends and win awards based on their performance and hard work!

HOW A MUN CONFERENCE WILL WORK 1. Delegates will be in small groups and each group will represent a designated country. 2. Delegates will then be assigned to a specific committee with pre-written topics. 3. After doing thorough research, delegates will arrive and split into their committees. 4. Each committee will have time to debate and work out resolutions that will be presented at General Assembly.

The purpose of Model UN is to educate students about international policies as well as make them analyze relationships between countries. Not only that, but students must cooperatively work towards a common goal and learn skills to compromise. Model United Nations is a wonderful program for students and will expand their knowledge on the international community and issues. Good Luck to All Delegates!
