What is happening in Syria? According to USAID Syria is facing the most difficult humanitarian crisis of our times due to 17 million Syrians, 2/3 rds their population, are in need of assistance. There also 6. 1 million refugees displaced within Syria and 4. 8 million Syrians in neighboring countries. Of those forced to leaver their homes around half of them are children. USAID has given nearly $3 billion in aid of the Syrian people since the start of the conflict¹. There are many supporters within the United States who are trying to accommodate more refugees. Clea Mc. Nelly and Lyn Morland have researched into communities that are getting the most of their resources in order to maximize how many refugees they can see. They explain how the key to success in these communities, i. e. Philadelphia, is communications and having a plan³. There are many agencies that are trying to find a solution and help as many people as possible in this Syrian refugee crisis working. There agencies within the United States and also in the Middle East provide shelter, food, clean water, and medical attention to provide aid to the refugees. It is estimated that they have provided nearly $6 billion since the start of the crisis in 2011₁.
