WHAT IS EXPLORING? E xploring is a career education program for young men and women in sixth grade through 20 years old. Adults are selected by the participating organization for involvement in the program. • Exploring’s purpose is to provide experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Explorers are ready to investigate the meaning of interdependence in their personal relationships and communities. • The result is a program of activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop. Exploring programs can specialize in a variety of career skills.

POST vs. CLUBS Exploring is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and the organizations in their communities. Local community organizations initiate a specific Explorer post or club by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. Explorer posts and clubs can specialize in a variety of career skills.

WHAT DOES EXPLORING LOOK LIKE LOCALLY? • Seneca Waterways Councils hosts over 70 programs • This serves over 1, 200 students in the region • Each program sets its own meeting schedule. • Partners have 4 -6 registered adult leaders on average. • All leaders participate in Youth Protection Training • The average youth membership in a single Exploring program is 24 participants. • Exploring is not Exploring unless it is a hands-on, interactive program. • We are always seeking new partners, if you have a business that may be a good candidate let us know

WHAT IS THE COST EXPLORING? Yearly Registration, Insurance and Program = $48/year (prorated depending on sign up date) Once a student is registered, they can participate in multiple posts (barring conflicts/extra costs) When do the benefits outweigh the costs…. Spencerport Explorers 2017
