What is Coproduction? • Co-production means young people and parent/carers working together with health, social care, education and other professionals to improve the lives of our young people with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities (SEND). • Young people and Parent/Carers become part of the decision making process. • This is a long-term trusting relationship sharing power, ideas and opinions with these people to make change happen.

Why is Coproduction important? • It allows us to make sure people have the right person centred care and support around them. • Co-production is cost effective. It makes sure we use things we have on the things that matter most to local people. • The people involved in co-production learn new skills, build stronger communities and develop new networks. Co-production helps improve the lives of people with care and support needs.

What we are pledging to do? • We will work to increase the knowledge, skills and confidence of people and families so they can work with us as partners throughout this work. • We will do this by providing a range of accessible support for people in partnership with local groups. • We will challenge decisions and processes that arise without being co-produced. • We will look to develop co-production teams and get more people involved.

Co-production is a key priority for us & our Parent/ Carer Forum (PCPW) We will find accessible ways for people and families to work with us as a group to plan, deliver and review for local people. We will make sure young people and Parent/Carers can come together with the right people at the right time and work with us as equal partners. We will use co-production teams to help us make decisions about how we can best use the resources we have to improve the lives of people with care and support needs.

Progress and success We will be open in sharing our progress, thoughts and opinions throughout. We will make sure our group can come together to understand, review and celebrate our successes. We will work together and learn what has worked well. We will identify changes needed to the way we are working coproductively so we can continue to improve.
