What is a vision? In a nutshell… Vision: The vision of an organization/business refers to an image of what this organization/business wants its future to look like.

What is a vision statement? In a nutshell… A short sentence/paragraph that describes what the organization/business aspires to achieve in the future. The vision statement is meant to inspire the staff/members/employees/stakeholders of the organization/business and provide the basis on what they want to build for the future and the actions they need to take towards that goal.

What are the characteristics of a good vision statement Ø Ø It is short and simple It looks to the future It inspires and motivates It is ambitious, but realistic It is in line with the core values of the organization/business

What is the difference between a mission statement and a vision statement? The vision statement and mission statement are often confused, and many companies use the terms interchangeably. However, they each have a different purpose. The vision statement describes where the organization wants to be in the future; the mission statement describes what the organization needs to do now to achieve the vision.
