What is a true blessing? #1 – It can only be given b/c God 1 st gave to use § Jacob will pass blessing of Abraham down § Jacob was 1 st blessed by God § He has a hope and a promise to pass on “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” I Peter 1: 3

What is a true blessing? #2 – It may only be recognized in the latter days § Blessings are much easier to recognize when the hope of them ever happening is first stripped away § Lower our expectation of what ‘we deserve’, then we’ll be enraptured by our blessings § Trust God and be patient

Jeremiah 31: 9 “They shall come with weeping and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel and Ephraim is my firstborn. ”

Psalm 89: 27 “Also I will make him [Israel] my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. ”

Colossians 1: 14 -15 “In Whom [Jesus] we have redemption through His blood even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. ”

Hebrews 12: 16 -17 “Lest there be any fornicator…as Esau, who for one morsel of meat, sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance though he sought it carefully with tears. ”

Acts 3: 6 “Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. ”

We’re a fountain to others! Jeremiah 2: 13 “For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me the fountain of living waters & hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold now water. ”
