What is a Thriller • Thriller is a film genre , that uses suspense, tension and excitement as the main elements. Thrillers heavily stimulate the viewer's moods giving them a high level of anticipation, ultra-heightened expectation, uncertainty, surprise, anxiety and/or terror. Thriller films tend to be adrenaline-rushing, gritty, rousing and fastpaced.

Thriller Characteristics • The protagonist is not a stand out, and is usually a vulnerable character • The protagonist usually is the one that kills the villain, escaping with their life. • The identity of the villain is known throughout the film. • There is usually a stalker, or stalker-like person. • Suspense is built throughout the film until its climax or anticlimax. • It engages the audience. • The Non-diegetic sound is used to build suspense. • The location is either an exotic place or a bland place but both with an ordinary community.
