Take your Extended Response to the RACES Restate part of the question in the first sentence To state something means you TELL about it. Answer the questions simply. TOPIC SENTENCE Example Question: What makes Harry Potter able to defeat Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone? Restate and Answer: There are many reasons that Harry Potter has the ability to defeat Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling, but the main reason is the people that love and support him.
ra. Ces Cite evidence from the story, article, or other text. Be a text talker… On page 352, Harry’s best friend Ron helps Harry by sacrificing himself in wizard chess, which is actually very dangerous. In chapter 17, Dumbledore informs Harry that the reason Voldemort couldn’t touch him was because his mother loved him so much that she died protecting him, and that her love was too much for Voldemort.
rac. Es Explain the evidence you chose. How does that part of the story answer the question? Ron’s willing to sacrifice himself because he truly believes in Harry. This shows that Ron truly cares for him and that Harry couldn’t have defeated the Dark Lord without that friendship. Harry’s mother’s dying wish was for her son to survive. This proves that love is what Voldemort doesn’t have and in the end, it’s what lead to his defeat.
race. S Summarize the idea of the essay and try to make a connection to the real world. With the help of his friends and family, Harry was able to defeat Lord Voldemort. Just like Harry Potter, we all face troubles. As we go through life, it’s the love and support we receive from our friends and family that help us to overcome the obstacles that we face.
