The pawn represents the collective poor. The rook represents the castles and the other strong buildings used. It was like the castles that got destroyed from cannons in war. The knight represents the warriors and the knights that guarded the king and queen. The bishop represents the church and it’s leaders. The bishop church and the priest in all of war. The queen represents royalty with the king. obviously It was the queen in war. The king represents royalty with the queen. It also represents power.
About The Pawn The pawn is probably the most worthless one out of all of them in chess and in war. The Pawn’s Move The pawn’s move is that it can only move straight. If it is on the starting square, it can move one or two squares in front. If it’s not in the starting square, it can only move forward one square. If it gets across to the opposing team’s end side, they get to become a queen, bishop, rook or knight. To capture a piece, it can only move forward diagonally. Where Is It Located? The pawn is the front row of the chess board for both chess teams, black and white. There are eight for each team. Togethere are sixteen that start. There are eight of them, which makes a whole line horizontally. back
About The Rook The rook is considered an important part of the chess game. It is better than the pawn by the move it does. The Rook’s Move The rook’s move is that it can move straight forward, backward, left and right. It can capture by only moving those ways. Where Is It Located? The rook is located at the corners of the chess board for both chess teams. There is two on each team so there are four rooks altogether. back
About The Knight The knight is the only chess piece that can jump over any other chess piece. The Knight’s Move The knight moves in an ‘L’ shape. The knight moves in any ‘L’ shape, left, right and up and down. It also captures like that too. The knight is the only chess piece that can jump over any other chess piece. Where Is It Located? The knight is located next to the rook, which is next to the corner horizontally. back
About The Bishop The bishop in world war II didn’t want it to start. But they still entered it and joined in the war, even though they didn’t want to. In chess the bishop does not relate to the church in any sort of way, even the looks. The Bishop’s Move The bishop can move only diagonally. If it starts on a black square, it can only stay on black squares. . Same with the white square, it can only stay on white squares. It collects by moving diagonally too. Where Is It Located? The bishop piece is located on the third square in the edge line. It has two for each team. One is next to the knight and queen, the other next to the king and knight. back
About The Queen It is one of the important ones in chess and real life. The queen also is a good piece to protect the king by the way from it’s move. The Queen’s Move The queen has the best moves in chess. It can go diagonal, like the bishop and horizontal and vertical like the rook. It captures like this too. The only move it can’t do like any other chess piece, is the knights, which is an ‘L’ shape. Where Is It Located? The queen is located next to the king and knight. It is located on the left side of the middle, but on the other side it will look like the right where the king should be. There is only one for each team, but having one is still good. back
About The King It is the most valuable piece of all. The king had the power in war and the opposite side wanted to kill them. All the chess pieces, real life and chess is used to protect the king. The King’s Move The king’s move is that it can only move on square at a time like the pawn but diagonally and straight. It captures like this too. Where Is It Located? The king is located on the right side of the middle, next to the queen and bishop. On the other side it will look like it is on the left, where the queen should be.
