What Christ can Give You
What Christ can Give You • Too many people are seeking to use Christ for their own purposes (Rather than letting Him give them what they need). • We, even, make mistakes deciding what we need! • Therefore, we need to listen to Jesus and let Him be in charge.
Dealing with the Past Ø What tends to bother us? • Things we did wrong. • Things that people did to us. • Failures to do things. o These things are the baggage we carry with us!
Dealing with the Past • Jesus gives us what we need to deal with those things. • Wrong things we did (Rom. 3: 23; 1 Jn. 3: 4; Acts 7: 58; 8: 1, 3; 1 Tim. 1: 12 -13; Acts 26: 9 -11; Jn. 21: 1519; Mic. 7: 19; Ps. 103: 12; Heb. 9: 26). • Things people did to us (Matt. 23: 34; 1 Cor. 13: 5).
Purpose for the Present • He reminds us that we are made in the image of God and have a God-intended mission on earth: • Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. " Matt 4: 19 (NKJV)
Purpose for the Present • He reminds us that we are made in the image of God and have a God-intended mission on earth: • "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matt 5: 13 -16 (NKJV)

Hope for the Future • In the face of trial, He gives us hope for victory (Jn. 16: 33). • In the face of failure, He gives us success (Rev. 11: 3 -12; 20: 4). • In the face of sadness, He gives us comfort (2 Cor. 1: 3 -4). • In the face of sin, He gives us forgiveness (Eph. 1: 7; Rev. 1: 5). • In the face of death, He gives us the hope of life (1 Pet. 1: 3; 1 Cor. 15: 50 -58).
