Be Not Overcome By Hatred “Never pay back evil for evil to anyone… Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, … Do not be overcome by evil…” Romans 12: 17, 19, 21
• Galatians 5: 20 • Sinful attitudes lead to sinful actions. • Examples: Cain (Gen. 4), Jacob’s sons (Gen. 37), Korah (Num. 16) • Animosity toward your brother or your neighbor usually begins small but left to fester grows, deceives and defiles the whole man. Malicious or hostile feelings toward others are a work of the flesh.
• “You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved. ” (Matt. 10: 22) • John 15: 18; 1 John 3: 13; Matt. 24: 10 Christians can be expected to be hated by the world.
• Rejoice in the Lord, love your enemy, pray for those who mistreat you and do good to them. • Matthew 5: 11 -12, 43 -45 • “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; . . . overcome evil with good. ” Romans 12: 20, 21 Christians can be expected to be hated by the world.
