What are some shapes you see around your house? Geometry Scavenger Hunt
Rectangle Width Length • A rectangle has 4 sides. • 2 longer sides called the length • 2 shorter sides called the width • A rectangle is 2 dimensional • An example of a rectangle could be a table
Square Same • A square has 4 sides. • Each side is the exact same length! • A square is 2 dimensional • An example of a square could be a piece of sandwich bread
Circle • A circle is round and flat. • A circle is made up of 1 curved line that goes all the way around and connects with itself. • A circle is 2 dimensional • An example of a circle can be the bottom of a can.
Cube Face • A cube has 6 square faces or sides. • All the faces are the exact same size. • A cube is 3 dimensional • An example of a cube could be toy building blocks.
Sphere • A sphere is a round, ball-shaped solid. • It has one continuous surface with no edges. • A sphere is 3 dimensional. • An example of a sphere could be a basketball or soccer ball
Parallelogram • Parallelograms are shapes that have four sides. Parallel • Two pairs of sides are parallel. • Parallel means two lines that never intersect or cross • An example of a Parallelogram could be the bannister for your staircase
Cylinder • A cylinder has two flat ends in the shape of circles. Tub e Flat End • These two faces are connected by a curved face that looks like a tube. • A cylinder is 3 dimensional. • An example of a cylinder could be paper towels
Right angle • A vertical and a horizontal line make most common right angles. • A right angle always makes 90 degrees. • We can see right angles in the corners of a room, book, cube, windows and at several other places
Now its time to find these shapes and angles in your house. When you find the shape, take a picture and insert it into The Geometry Scavenger Hunt Power. Point located in the Math Folder on your Class webpage! Happy Hunting!!!!
