Fiction • The largest collection of books are Fiction. • Find these by looking for authors last name. • Found in ABC order by author’s last name. • Call number starts with F.
Fiction Color-Coded • Green- Adventure • Light Green. Fairytales • Purple- Fantasy • Bronze- Graphic Novels • Yellow- Historical Fiction • Gray- Horror • Light Blue- Humor • Red- Mystery • Light Purple. Mythology • Brown- Paranormal • Pink- Romance/Chick Lit • Blue- Realistic Fiction • Clear- Science Fiction • Orange- Sports
Non-Fiction • Classified based on Dewey Decimal Numbers. • When looking for a specific subject, check chart or ask librarian or assistant.
Biography • Can be found in ABC order by the famous person’s last name, not the author. • Call number starts with B.
Magazines • Past issues can be checked out.
Library Expectations from Student Handbook • You may check out ONE book at a time. • If a student has an overdue book, they may not checkout another book until the book is turned in or paid for. • All books must be returned or paid before students are approved for the end of the school year field trips or field day. • If you transfer, books must be returned before records are sent to new school. • Damaged books must be paid for.
Checking Books Out with Class • Library number is student ID number. Each student will have a card with their number (unless you want to memorize it ). • Form a line and wait your turn.
Coming without Your Class • Need library pass before entering library. • Find library card to hand to Miss Holder or student assistant. • Go to circulation desk to check out book. • Return to class.
Out of Office • If you come without your class to check out a book and no one is at circulation desk, put a post-it note with your name and where you are and we will get it check out for you. • NEVER leave the library with a book that hasn’t been checked out.
Returning Books • When finished reading the book, put book in Book Return drop. • NEVER lay on circulation desk or put back on shelf!
Book Care • Use a bookmark. Never turn down pages! • Creating bookmarks. Keep up with it all year for a prize. • Keep books away from pets, small children, and liquids. • Don’t remove stickers or plastic. • Report any damage to Miss Holder or library assistant.

Library Fundraisers • Used Ink Cartridges and Old Cellphones. • Must turn in to Miss Holder.
• Boxtops for Education. • Must turn in to Miss Holder or Assistant.
• Cookies sold on Thursdays. • Each cookie is 50¢. • Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate, Peanut Butter, M&M, Sugar, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut
• Book Fair • First one Aug. 28 Sept. 13 • Feb. 17 - Feb. 21. • Watch for details.
Please… • Be respectful. The decorations are for you to enjoy, but please do not touch them. • Put trash in trash cans. • Push up chairs if sitting at table. • Keep a voice level of 0 while in library.
