What’s Happening Now? § Michigan employers are introducing wellness programs at the workplace. – BASF provides Weight. Wise at Work programs. – Health. Plus of Michigan and Citizens Republic Bancorp, both Flint-based companies, made making healthy choices into a friendly competition. – MGM, Trinity Health, General Dynamics provide workplace chronic illness self management programs. 2

What’s Happening Now? § Employers are helping offset the cost of smoking cessation and fitness programs to encourage employee wellness. – United Auto Supply is paying half the cost of a smoking cessation program (about $100) for employees and their spouses, and for the time it takes to complete. If successful, employees receive a gift to offset the other half of the cost. 3
