Lesson’s Introduction Transformation of sentence Assertive ___ Interrogative (Vice-versa) Unit-11
Learning outcome By the end of the lesson learner’s will be able to. . Give the definition of Interrogative Sentence. Identify Interrogative Sentence. Transform an Interrogative sentence to an Assertive sentence.
Look at the pictures. Are you a student? Who teach you? What are they doing? / interrogating one another. They are asking A sentence which asks a question about anything is called an Interrogative Sentence.
Assertive to Interrogative. v The conditions of changing Assertive sentence to Interrogative is __ F If the Assertive Sentence is Affirmative, the Interrogative sentence must be Negative. F If the Assertive Sentence is Negative, the Interrogative sentence must be Affirmative.
Rule no # 01: If an Assertive sentence is Affirmative, Interrogative sentence will be ____ Auxiliary verb / do /does /did + not/ n’t+ Subject + verb + Extension + ? Note: - If there is Always, it will be Ever. Will + not = won’t Such as__ He is teaching English. Int: Isn’t he teaching English? Rana always goes to school. Int: Doesn’t Rana ever go to school?
Exercise: 1. The sun rises in the east. 2. It is raining. 3. We can swim in the river. 4. He dreamt a sweet dream. Answer: 1. Doesn’t the sun rise in the east? 2. Isn’t it raining? 3. Can’t we swim in the river? 4. Didn’t he dream a sweet
Rule no #02 : - If an Assertive sentence is Negative, Interrogative sentence will be ____ Auxiliary verb / does / did + Subject + verb + Extension + ? Note: - If there is Never, it will be Ever. ‘No’ will be ‘Any’, Nobody - Anybody, None – Any, No one - Any one, Nothing - Anything. Example. He knows nothing. Int: Does he know anything?
Exercise: 1. Ha-mim never tells a lie. 2. Nobody believes a dishonest man. 3. They couldn’t walk. 4. We do not play football in the rain. Answer: 1. Does Ha-mim ever tell a lie? 2. Does anybody believe a dishonest man? 3. Could they walk? 4. Do we play football in the rain?
Home work Change the sentences into Interrogative. 1. Honesty is the best policy. 2. He has never seen the Taj. 3. You trust none. 4. Roza always say her prayer. 5. Mam cannot live alone.
