Welder o The welder used in the Spanish Fork High Collision Repair Shop is a 135 amp wire feed Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welder. UVU CRT 2009
Shielding Gas o A 75% Argon 25% Carbon Dioxide (C 25) gas is used to protect the weld puddle from contaminates. o This mix gives a quality flat weld that is beneficial for collision work. UVU CRT 2009
Gas Regulator o This is the pressurized gas regulator. o The optimum flow setting is 17 cubic feet/minute. UVU CRT 2009
Inside the Welder o. 023 Continuous Wire Spool. o Leads to reverse the weld polarity. o Wire Tension Control UVU CRT 2009

Contact Tip o Wire feeds through the contact tip which provides the electrical contact. o The contact tip is a wear item that should be replaced occasionally. UVU CRT 2009
Gas Nozzle o Used to focus the shielding gas over the weld puddle. UVU CRT 2009
Wire Liner o The wire feeds through the liner to the contact tip. o The liner is also a wear item that should be replaced when the wire feed is irregular. UVU CRT 2009

Roloc Angle Grinder o Roloc discs are designed to remove surface contaminates from the metal without thinning the metal. UVU CRT 2009
Panel Crimper o Used to crimp the edge of the panel for an offset lap weld. UVU CRT 2009

Metal Hole Punch o 5/16” Metal Hole Punch. o Used for making holes in sheet metal for plug welds. UVU CRT 2009
