Objectives - Weld Notes Welding Call-out Weld Symbols Fillet Welds Groove Welds Intermittent Welds CJP / PJP Additional Resources
Weld Notes: - First thing to look for on a print! Weld Notes are Engineering Instructions that apply to all welds on a part, and specific instructions for how that part is to be made.
Weld Callout Not all fields will be used in a welding symbol. Only the fields needed to communicate what needs to be done.
Weld Symbols
Fillet Welds
Fillet Welds
Groove Welds
Groove Welds Common Prep Angles: Bevel Groove - 45° V Groove - 60° (30° Each Side)
Groove Welds
Intermittent Welds 1) Length of Weld 2) Distance from Centerline to Centerline of weld. Note: Weld Crater is not included in the effective length.
CJP vs PJP CJP - Complete Joint Penetration. - When no depth is called out assume the joint is to be welded all the way through. PJP - Partial Joint Penetration. - Only when there is a depth call out (Left side of Groove weld Symbol) is PJP acceptable. - Fillet welds by nature are PJP unless otherwise specified.
