Weld Booths
Weld Booths System Needs and Proposed Solution Primary Needs: 1. Standardize weld booth • Better use of space by eliminating unnecessary equipment/materials • Allow welders the flexibility to use any weld booth 2. Install visual controls to ensure welder is always busy 3. Construct exhaust system to remove gasses generated from welding Suggested Solution: 1. Add pipe rollers to weld booths • Productivity → Provide greater flexibility 2. Eliminate argon tanks with direct piping • Safety & Productivity → Eliminate the need for welders to go outside and fill up argon tanks (currently 2 x per week), alleviating unnecessary lifting and walking 3. Dig trenches for cords • Safety → Eliminate cords from lying along the floor 4. Install visual control system (green/white lights) • Productivity → Make pipe-fitters aware of when/which welder needs work and make pipe-fitters aware of when welder has completed work 5. Simple exhaust system (add oscillating fans between weld booths) • Safety → Welding curtains can remain closed and decrease potential for weld flashing
