COVID 19 Coronavirus – latest information
Help control the virus To protect yourself and others when out and about you should: 2 metres Keep your distance from people outside your household or support bubble. Keep clean Keep your hands and face as clean as possible. Cover face Wear a face covering, especially indoors (e. g. shops) or on public transport. Avoid crowds Try to avoid crowded places.
Help control the virus To protect yourself and others when out and about you should: Don’t touch anything unless you have to, especially in shops. Don’t share masks or anything else that can pass on COVID. Hand gel Carry hand gel with you and use it frequently. Take a test If you are showing signs of COVID, stay at home and arrange to have a test.
COVID Test 119 Get a test Order a test online at gov. uk or call 119. Booking You can book an appointment at a testing centre or be sent a home kit. Swab You will need to take your own swab with the home kit and send it off for testing. Results Lab results can take 24 -48 hours to come back.
There are different guidelines for different parts of the UK. We are going to look at the guidelines for England. If you are visiting Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland you need to check what their guidelines are.
Latest guidance for England effective from 28 th September Rule of 6 When meeting with people you don’t live with you can socialise in groups of up to 6. Exceptions You can have up to 15 people at a wedding including the reception. Exceptions You can have up to 30 people at a funeral but only 6 people at the wake afterwards. Exceptions You can have more than 6 people at an official, organised outdoor sport session. For indoor sports you must have no more than 6 people.
Latest guidance for England effective from 28 th September Exceptions Places of worship can have as many people as they want as long as they can maintain social distancing. Face coverings In retail (shops) and hospitality (pubs, cafes etc) settings, staff will be required to wear face coverings. Pubs and Restaurants Pubs and restaurants now have to close at 10 pm. Fines You can be fined £ 200 if you do not wear a mask unless you have a medical reason. Please carry your exemption card or letter when you go out.
Local Lockdowns More cases Some places in the UK have seen a big increase in COVID cases. Lockdown The government has put some of these places into local lockdown. Rules This means they have stricter rules than the rest of the UK. Places The places on local lockdown are mainly in the north of England but also some places in Wales and Northern Ireland.
Vaccines > 169 2021 Vaccine Scientists across the world have been working hard to find a vaccine. Develop There are over 169 potential vaccines in development. Trials are now being done on people for 26 of these potential vaccines. Available It is most likely that a vaccine will be ready early next year.

GP • The first port of call should always be the GP as they know all medical history and can signpost to relevant services. • If out of hours you can always seek support from NHS Direct 111 who can provide support and signposting in the GP’s absence
