PRAYER OF TRANSFORMATION
*Hymn How Great Thou Art # 467 in the Blue Hymnal
O Lord my God! when I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed;
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
When through the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze;
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in; That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin;
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration, And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
PRAYER OF FORGIVENESS – (IN UNISON) Adapted from St. Augustine of Hippo (354 -430)
Almighty God, you have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless till they find rest in you. Grant us purity of heart and strength of purpose, that no selfish passion may hinder us from knowing your will,
and no weakness hinder us from doing it; but that in your light we may see light, and in your service find our perfect freedom; through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.

*Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing, #356 (verse 3) O to grace how great a debtor Daily I'm constrained to be! Let that grace now, like a fetter, Bind my wandering heart to Thee:
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it Prone to leave the God I love; Here's my heart, O take and seal it, Seal it for Thy courts above.

Living the Ten Let It Go – The Gift of Rest Deuteronomy 5: 12 -15
Thanksgiving for the Word
O Word of God incarnate, O Wisdom from on high, O Truth unchanged, unchanging, O Light of our dark sky: We praise You for the radiance That from the hallowed page, A lantern to our footsteps, Shines on from age to age.
SCRIPTURE READINGS — Deuteronomy 5: 12 -15 (Old Testament, Page 162 in NRSV pew Bible)
Observe the sabbath day and keep it holy, as the LORD your God commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work.
But the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God; you shall not do any work— you, or your son or your daughter,
or your male or female slave, or your ox or your donkey, or any of your livestock, or the resident alien in your towns,
so that your male and female slave may rest as well as you. Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt,
and the LORD your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand an outstretched arm; therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the sabbath day.

* This We Believe (CONGREGATION READS WORDS IN BOLD) Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved; God will help it when the morning dawns. The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Come, behold the works of the Lord; see what desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. “Be still, and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth. ”
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
HYMN I to the Hills Will Lift My Eyes # 234 in the Blue Hymnals
I to the hills will lift my eyes; From whence shall come my aid? My help is from the Lord alone, Who Heaven and earth has made.
God will not let your foot be moved, Your Guardian never sleeps; God's watchful and unslumbering care Protects and safely keeps.
Your faithful keeper is the Lord, Your shelter and your shade; 'Neath sun or moon, by day or night, You shall not be afraid.
From evil He will keep you safe, Provide for all you need; Your going out, your coming in, God will forever lead.
The Prayers of the People
Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in his wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of his glory and grace.
Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer (Debtors version)
Our Father, who art in heaven Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory. Amen.
OFFERING OUR TITHES AND GIFTS (Visitors, in the pew rack you will find a Guest Information card. Please complete the card, then place it in the offering plate. )
OFFERTORY — Amazing Grace arr. Gilbert Martin
* The Response of Praise — DOXOLOGY (#592) Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; O, praise Him! Alleluia! Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. O praise Him, O praise Him! Alleluia!
Offering of Prayer (in unison) Adapted from St. John of the Cross, 1542 -91
O sweetest love of God, too little known, whoever has found you will be at rest. Let everything change, O our God, that we may rest in you.
How sweet to us is your presence, you who are the sovereign good! May we rejoice and rest in your presence always,
and O Lord, we beseech you, leave us not for a moment. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
* HYMN How Firm a Foundation #361 in the Blue Hymnal
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, Is laid for your faith in God's excellent Word! What more can be said than to you God hath said, To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed, For I am thy God, and will still give thee aid; I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand, Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.
When through the deep waters I call thee to go, The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow; For I will be near thee, thy troubles to bless, And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.
When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie, My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply; The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.
The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose, I will not desert to its foes; That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake, I'll never, no, never forsake.
* CHARGE AND BLESSING Congregational Response: God be with you till we meet again; Loving counsels guide, uphold you, With a Shepherd’s care enfold you; God be with you till we meet again.
Postlude — Trumpet Tune Douglas Wagner
