Public Policy Update HR 460: Patient Access to Treatment Act o Bi-partisan o Introduced by Congressman David Mc. Kinley (R-WV 1) and Congresswoman Lois Capps (DCA 24) o Would limit cost-sharing requirements in the specialty drug tier to a similar dollar amount applicable to drugs in a non-preferred brand tier. o 108 cosponsors o Next steps: Introduce a Senate companion bills HR 1239: Accessing Medicaid Therapies Act o Bi-partisan o Introduced by Congressman Bill Cassidy, MD (R-LA 6) and Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA 6), o Would assist Medicare Part D beneficiaries access needed treatments and therapies by allowing non-profit patient assistance organizations to provide donated therapies; donated products will then count towards a patient’s out-of-pocket expense, ensuring greater access to patients o 12 cosponsors
Public Policy Update HR 2619: Medicare Respiratory Therapist Act o Bi-partisan o It will amend Medicare Part B to provide coverage of pulmonary selfmanagement education and training services furnished by a qualified RT in the physician practice setting with the physician billing Medicare o 31 cosponsors o Introduced by Representative John Lewis o Next Steps: Introduce a Senate companion bill HR 1717: Medicare DMEPOS Market Pricing Program Act o Bi-partisan o Would replace competitive bidding with a Market Pricing Program (MPP) for durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) o 175 cosponsors o GAO Report o CMS rule
