What Council has heard… Extensive past public engagement has shown us • Not in a public park • Not near our schools • Not in a residential area
What Council has done about it… With public input in mind, Council has selected a new location • In the downtown • Covering the ten minute response area for all residential development in Taber • Not in the vicinity of residential development, schools or parks • In a revenue generating existing leasehold facility
New Site Location • Lots 1 -6, Block 15, Plan 5638 L • 5207 49 Avenue • Current Canada Post Building

Project Timeline • Conditional offer to purchase in place, conditions to be met by July 1, 2019 • Conceptual designs in place • Funding proposal developed – tender dependent • Public Information Session – today
Project Timeline • Tender for building construction to be completed by end of June (earlier date may be possible) • Potential Award by July 1, 2019 (earlier date may be possible) • Construction to follow (startup dependent on earlier dates – hopeful for 2019 construction season but potentially spring of 2020
Project Funding Total cost for the Project • Ferguson Estate $1, 400, 000 • Energy Conservation Fund (Green efficiency) • 2019 MSI • Offsite Levy $1, 200, 000 Total approved budget • Savings - 2018 approved projects $4, 500, 000 $ 496, 000 $ 404, 000 $3, 500, 000 $ 1, 000 (internal borrowing) Variance (Shortfall) $ 0
Internal Borrowing Fund • Funding beyond the $3. 5 million is proposed to be borrowed from internal sources. • This internal source funding will be repaid over a period of years depending on the shortfall. • The funding sources for repayment will be lease arrangements already in place with Canada Post and Alberta Health Services.
Next Steps • Finalize design concepts and prepare tender package • Potential award of tender • Waiver of conditional sale agreement • Construction of new Emergency Services Building
