Programme Qualifications The postgraduate qualifications at Loughborough offer three qualifications • Certificate (PGCert) –

Programme Qualifications The postgraduate qualifications at Loughborough offer three qualifications • Certificate (PGCert) – students to undertake 60 credits of modules • Diploma (PGDip) – students to undertake 120 credits of modules • Masters (MSc) – students to undertake 180 credits of modules Full requirements for each qualification are outlined in Programme Specification/Regulations 6

Guidelines for Length of Work Noted on each module specification but in general: Coursework for 10 credit modules* - 3, 000 words (+/- 10%, excluding appendices) *several 10 credit modules include assessments during taught module which may reduce the assignment length 19

Assessment Gradings • Assignments are graded according to a marking scheme • To pass

Assessment Gradings • Assignments are graded according to a marking scheme • To pass a module and gain credit students must obtain a module mark of at least 50% • For postgraduate modules the key gradings are: o 50% = Pass o 60% = Merit o 70% = Distinction • To qualify for an award students must mainly gain module marks of 50% or better (credit) • Diploma and Masters are allowed a few module marks down to 40% (maximum of 20 credits for Diploma and 30 credits for Masters). 20
