DEVELOPING A BALANCED SCHEDULE Learning to develop a good schedule is a valuable skill

DEVELOPING A BALANCED SCHEDULE Learning to develop a good schedule is a valuable skill for academic success. Building an appropriate schedule ü Credit Load = average 14 -16 credits (3 -4 classes) ü If including science labs: 12 -14 credits (3 classes) is more suitable ü Balance class types and sizes ü Plan time for out-of-class assignments and to study ü 1 credit hour = 1 hour of class + 2 hours of out of class preparation / studying ü Pay attention to prerequisites and course sequencing ü Many majors such as Languages, Math, Science, Pre-Healthcare, and Engineering should begin their coursework fall quarter to stay on track ü In general 101 courses in the sciences do not fulfill pre-healthcare requirements Viking Advisor pg. 47 (pg. 8 of the DTA version)
