At Broad Square Primary School Every Minute Counts. The external doors and gate are closed and children enter through the office. Lateness = Lost learning. Children do not like to arrive to school late, it is upsetting. They miss out on so much. Your child will be missing learning opportunities if you are not in school or are late to school. We work closely with our Liverpool City Council’s Education Welfare Office and Liverpool Social Services, unauthorised absences could result in fixed penalty fines.

Year 3 Behaviour Our School Values are: Excellence; Responsibility; Respect; Community; Enjoyment; Compassion and Perseverance We have high expectations of the behaviour and conduct of all the children. We reward those children who try their best to model the values above, including giving certificates in weekly celebration assemblies. Everyone starts each new day on a ‘Green Card’ in our ‘Good to be Green’ behaviour system. If a warning is given, children will change their card to be a reminder that they need to change their behaviour. Children with exceptional behaviour or work can earn a Gold Card!

Online Safety Tips Reputable organisations used by minors often have this button displayed so that it is easy to report abuse of concerns about something your child has seen. • Explore the technology that your child enjoys: play their games, listen to the music they download. • Remind older siblings that some of the websites they use may not be suitable for their siblings. • When talking about bullying, relationships etc do not forget to include online aspects. • Set boundaries and rules for their online behaviour. Please go to childnet. com for advice about how to set up parental controls with your internet provider, mobile operator, devices and online services. BUT please remember that no parental controls of filtering option is 100% effective.

Year 4 Home Learning Home reading We expect children to bring their reading folder to school every day. They will have a designated day to change their reading books. If they haven’t finished reading their book they will get another week to finish the book ready for it to be changed. The children's book will be changed when we are happy with their understanding of the text Spellings Children will be given spellings on a Thursday. There will be a pre test on Tuesday and a final spelling test on Wednesday. A pre test is a good way to let children know if they need to practice their spellings a little more. Homework will be given on a Thursday and children will have until Tuesday to complete this. I will try to go through the homework with children on a Tuesday. If you or the children need help with any of the homework please come and speak to myself or Miss Carroll.
