Welcome to Y 4 FLIX Hello to our

- Slides: 5
Welcome to… Y 4 FLIX Hello to our wonderful Year 4 learners! How you all? We haven’t been full classes for a long time, but we have really enjoyed seeing the wonderful effort you have put in to your Learning at Home or in school, and hearing about the interesting things you have been up to! Have you had a look at the QI Gallery on our website yet? It’s a great way to see what other QI learners have been up to! Last week, the weather was a bit miserable and we know some of you used it as a chance to watch some films. We thought it would be a great idea to collect together ‘Y 4 FLIX - Year 4 Film Recommendations’ to inspire each other. To take part, this what you need to do: Send us a slide (like ours – see the next 2 slides) with a picture of you or your favourite film, and short message that we can share with all the other children in our class. Your message could include – the name of the film, the director, the reasons you like it (persuade your friends why they might want to watch it!), your favourite character and scene, your star rating, snacks you like to enjoy whilst watching it, and answers to our questions. The deadline is Friday this week. If you cannot use one of our Power. Point slide templates, just send us a word document or text in an email with an image. You need to have your parent’s permission if you wish to add any pictures with you (or your family) in them, and you must make sure the film is of an appropriate rating. Miss Thornton and Miss Roe xx
TOP PICK for Miss Roe I recommend the film ‘Hook’. This film is one of my all time favourites. Have you watched this film? The reason why I like this film the most, is because it is full of fantasy and adventure. Did you know that the film is based around the story of Peter Pan? As a child, I dreamed of going to Never Land too! Never Land is a place where the children are not looked after by grown ups and the grown ups are pirates. Does that sound like a place you would like to visit? My favourite scene is where the Lost Boys and Pan have a delicious feast. They use their imagination to make the feast come to life – the ice cream always looks so tasty! I don’t want to tell you too much about the film as I recommend you should watch it. If you have already watched Hook, you could watch it again! Overall, I give Hook 4 stars out of 5. If you’re interested in this film, make sure you ask an adult for permission to watch it, as it has a PG rating. Please answer these questions when you respond to my message: • What is your favourite snack to eat whilst watching your favourite film? • Is there a special place in your home where you watch films? • Do you have a favourite scene or favourite characters in your film?
TOP PICK for Miss Thornton As you know, I love all things Japanese, so my recommendation to you is a Studio Ghibli film called ‘Spirited Away’. It is a PG, so make sure you ask your parents’ permission if you want to watch it – they might even want to watch it with you! Studio Ghibli is a famous animation film studio in Tokyo. Their most famous film is ‘Totoro’, and you may recognise the main character if you Google it. ‘Spirited Away’ is my favourite because it’s full of magic, intrigue and is open to lots of interpretation. I like a plot to have a twist, and feature a tale of hope! I also like the animation style - including the colours! Could you draw a picture like that? I like to watch these films when it’s miserable outside, and snack on apple pie and ice-cream. What a treat! Please think about these questions when you create your slide: • Which character would you most like to be and why? • What is it about the film you like; the music, the colours, the way it’s filmed? • Who is the best company to watch it with?
TOP PICK for (your name) I recommend the film… Your choice of image! You could include a picture of you watching the film, or your smiling face – but make sure you ask for permission at home first! Overall STAR rating:
