TREATING PEOPLE THE RIGHT WAY • The Principle: Do not Show Favoritism. (James 2: 1, 8) 1 My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. 8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself, ” you are doing well. • Favoritism is judging at face value • Areas of Discrimination • Appearance • Ancestry • Age • Affluence • Achievement

TREATING PEOPLE THE RIGHT WAY • The Problem • Favoritism is Unchristian • (Romans 2: 11) 11 For God shows no partiality. • (1 Samuel 16: 7) 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. ” • Favoritism is Unreasonable • Favoritism is Unloving • Favoritism is a Sin

TREATING PEOPLE THE RIGHT WAY • The Solution • I treat people the right way when I • Accept other People • (Romans 15: 7) Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. • Love other People • Encourage other People • Consider other People • Show Mercy to other People

TREATING PEOPLE THE RIGHT WAY • The Solution • I treat people the right way when I • Accept other People • Love other People • (John 13: 34 -35) 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. ” • (Romans 12: 9 -10) 9 Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. • (Galatians 5: 6) For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.
