RECEPTION classes We have two classes for Reception children as follows: v Reception Class (30 Reception children) v Reception / Year One Class (15 Reception children and 15 Year one children) (Parents will be informed which class their child is in by letter in due course)
Class organisation at Park Street Previous admissions number – 34 x children ‘Bulge’ class – 50 x children Sept 2015 and 2016 45 x children Sept 2017 onwards Three new classrooms Team of professionals decide on which class is best for each individual child, considering: § friendship groupings, § gender, § term of birth, § current stage of development, § strengths of the teacher matched to the needs of the child To ensure a balance of children in both / each of the classes.

Uniform Our uniform policy states: The school has adopted a standard form of dress Pupils are encouraged to wear: burgundy sweatshirts/jumpers/cardigans white/burgundy polo shirts with or without the school logo on grey trousers, skirts or pinafores sensible, smart, plain black shoes (leather where possible) may wear head scarves / head dresses, in uniform colours, if this is a religious / cultural wish (burgundy / grey / black) NO brightly coloured shoes / trainers / heels / sandals NO leggings / over the top bows PE: children require a white t-shirt, black shorts, black jogging bottoms, black sweatshirt and black pumps/trainers for PE (from the Spring term in Reception) All clothing should be clearly marked with the child’s name. Jewellery – only studs! Children must be able to take these out for PE independently or come without them on PE days. Plasters cannot be taped over them. We recommend, if you are having your child’s ears pierced, that you do so at the beginning of the six weeks holidays. Watches- children may wear one analogue watch (NO Smart watches are allowed) Order forms can be accessed on line via the information on our school website
Medical Administration of prescribed medication which must be taken 4 times daily or specifically at lunchtime will be given by designated staff – please fill in forms at the Office! Please do not send non-prescribed medicine to school. All medicines must be clearly labelled and kept in the original container and to comply with local authority guidelines, the relevant form must be completed. Children will only be given prescribed medication once the form is completed. Prescribed medication should be brought to school by the parent or an adult authorised by the parent and handed in at the office and picked up again by an adult.
Medical continued… Sickness and diarrhoea: every likelihood that this is a bug! PLEASE leave 48 hours after the last bout to avoid any spread of disease! If sickness is due to a cough / cold / something the child has eaten, then it is fine for them to return as and when USE your mum / dad judgement! Inhalers: please provide one (with spacer if applicable) to be kept in school (must be prescribed and paperwork completed) Head lice: please treat your child’s hair as soon as possible and avoid absence for this reason. Regular follow up checks of your child’s hair will be required by yourselves. Please let us know, we can address the issue! Covid-19: if your child displays any of the three main symptoms (continuous cough, temperature, loss or change of smell/taste) then they will need a negative PCR test result before they can come into school. If your child displays any of the symptoms while they are in school, parents will be asked to come and collect them and any siblings and book a PCR test. All household members must isolate until the negative result is received. Please be aware that home LFT’s are not to be used if a child has symptoms. We ask that you keep us informed via the school email address.
Attendance – a life skill! Regular and punctual! Contact school by 8. 45 am on the day of absence to inform school of the reason why they will not be attending (texts will go out) Expect a phone call / home visit if not (3 days)! After 8. 45 am we make a note of time brought to school (and reason why not on time), late and unauthorised after 9. 30 am Holidays have to be formally applied for (current policy states unauthorised unless extra special circumstances) Attendance is tracked and followed up – Education Welfare Services (Mr Clyde Buckle – EWO) BUT, it is also rewarded!: prizes in school, certificates, £ 5 team awards each week, extra play, non-uniform days for teams, 100% attendance displayed and trips out, promoted on website etc!

Morning Activity Club & Kidz Club ‘Morning Activity Club’ (MAC) every morning: 8 -8. 35 am Led by Ms Godany (TA) and other school TAs / Sports Coach *£ 1. 75 per session *booked online using the Gateway app ‘Kidz Club’ after school provision: 3. 30 -5. 30 pm Led by Mrs Stevens (TA) and Play Workers *£ 4. 00 (3. 30 -4. 30 pm) / £ 8. 00 for the full 2 hours including a light snack (3. 30 pm-5. 30 pm); *booked online using the Gateway app *48 hours cancellation *booked by 12 noon on the day you require the service If you require any further information, please contact the main school office by telephone or email.
A plea about our drive…! 2010 Governors chose to close the gate at drop off / pick up times for safeguarding reasons Gate closed at 8. 20 – 9. 00 am for drop off Gate closed at 2. 30 -3. 30 pm for pick up If you or your child has a disability / medical condition, then you may apply for a parking permit and the code for the bottom gate Other than this, no parking is allowed on school site at ANY time. Please ask Mrs C Turner at the main school office
A typical day at Park Street: Doors open at 8. 35 am (please wait with your child on the main school playground, close to your child’s classroom door) Teachers register the children from 8. 40 am (gates are locked at 8. 45 am to mark the close of register) Learning time begins immediately, using the indoor and outdoor areas (children need to come equipped for all weathers!) Learning includes a balance of whole class teaching, focus group teaching and independent learning in continuous provision Snack time- children receive a free piece of fruit every day. If your child has any allergies to fruits, please feel free to send them with a healthy snack Lunch time – 11. 45 am – 1 pm Continued learning time in class Home time – 3. 15 pm
Changes to the timings of the school day due to Covid-19 Following government guidance, we have modified the timings of the school day to allow for social distancing. Current timings are as follows: 8. 30 am-8. 50 am- flexible drop-off 3. 05 pm-3. 25 pm- flexible pick-up
What to bring to school: v Suitable clothing for outdoor learning in all weathers. During hot weather, please apply sun screen before school. Unfortunately staff are unable to apply this. v A pair of wellies v Book bag with their school reading book inside v Named water bottle with fresh water v £ 1. 00 per week voluntary contribution towards baking and snacks etc. v Packed lunch if chosen. Please ensure this is nut free as we have children in school with nut allergies. School can provide support regarding healthy lunchbox options.
Welly Walk! v Every week on Thursdays (day to be confirmed) v Visit the on-site nature reserve v Need a pair of wellies and suitable clothing for the weather v Risk assessment will be sent out in due course to return to school
Keeping children safe Please inform us if someone different is to collect your child. We will always check with the main carer if someone unfamiliar should come unexpectedly. No under 16 s to collect children in EYFS and KS 1 unless a disclaimer has been signed at the office.
