A typical day in UKS 2. . .
Behaviour System Children names are stuck on the chart so they can be moved around. • Every morning they will start afresh, on Green. • They can be moved up to Silver/Gold for good behaviour/work etc. or down to Amber/Red if they make poor choices. • Amber = warning, Red = timeout, continued bad choices = phase leader. • Children are to move themselves up/down in order to give them a sense of responsibility. • If a child reaches Gold by the end of the day = 1 house point. - Silver = praised in front of class.

Housekeeping • Homework • Weekly Maths - set Weds, due in Mon • Weekly Guided Reading/Comprehensions • Reading- daily at home – talk about what you have read – BIG focus on comprehension • PE days • Y 5 – Mondays // Swimming – this term • No swimming for Y 6 – with the exception of those who are unable to swim 25 m • Y 6 – Tuesdays and Thursdays • Reading journals • • This will have the weekly reading/task set each week Parent/school communication if needed. Please ask child to show teacher if there is a note inside. Learning Log at the back • Lost property/jumpers/PE kit - Independence • Starting times • 8: 40 – for lessons to begin as close to 8: 50 as possible. • Appointments can be made via a note or at the school office.
Learning Logs • Homework • One or two tasks to be completed each term. • NOT laborious • Power. Points, models, posters all welcome • The Learning Log grid is now stuck into the back of the Guided Reading Journals • If you need resources, please come and speak to the class taecher.
Housekeeping • Guided reading Each group will read with an adult at least once a week. • Parent volunteers for reading – still very welcome in UKS 2! • Jacasta – things to take note of, dates, resources etc. • Pencil cases – allowed in Y 6 (own responsibility), not in Y 5.
Curriculum • New curriculum now being followed across the whole school – this is new for Year 6. • Changes bring higher expectations of pupils, particularly in Maths. Many things have been pushed down from secondary school.
