V 2. 5. 0: HDMI-CEC Support • • • m 9400 and m 9405 Media Players now support sending HDMI-CEC commands to the TV Control the on/off state of the TV using only the Media Player remote On/off commands send via Smart Control are also passed over CEC, enabling remote, central control of both Media Players and the displays they are attached to
V 2. 5. 0: HDMI-CEC Support Use Case I have multiple displays around my office building connected to m 9405 Media Players. To conserve energy, all of the displays are turned off at night, and back on again in the morning. Benefit Rather than having someone manually turn on and off displays throughout an entire building, this can be done centrally by sending commands to the Media Players, which will in turn pass them on to the display.
V 2. 5. 0: Security Upgrades • 94 -series Media Players now support the import of signed certificates • • • Eliminates browser security warnings when accessing Web UI (HTTPSprotected traffic between the Media Player and the browser) Stricter password requirements have been implemented, with a minimum character requirement , and palindromes/dictionary words are not accepted • This mirrors the e 38 series encoder password requirements • Note: existing passwords still work after upgrade Ability to disable SSDP for customers who perceive it as insecure
V 2. 5. 0: Security Upgrades Use Case My organisation has very strict security requirements for all networked devices. Benefit Strict password requirements and visible security certificates ensure that 94 -series Media Players are suitable for use within organisations with stringent network security requirements.
V 2. 5. 0: Reboot Into Previous State • • When upgraded, Media Players will return to the previous state they were in before the upgrade This ensures minimal disruption to viewers, and enables customers to upgrade units at convenient times where viewership is low (e. g. at night)
V 2. 5. 0: Reboot Into Previous State Use Case I have a cruise ship fitted out with m 9400 s in the cabins, and need to upgrade them all. I want to do this at night so as to minimise guest disruption. Benefit Once the units have been upgraded, they will reboot into the previous state, so if the guest TV is in standby, it will not light up and disturb them in the middle of the night.
V 2. 5. 0: Online Help Hyperlink • For end users who require a little more help with their Media Players, there is now a hyperlink in the Web UI which navigates to the online help pages
