WELCOME To The New World of Technology NANO TECHNOLOGY by Mr. G. Yadu sir Asst. Prof. in Physics Dept. Of Physics Govt. Rajeev Lochan College Rajim Chhattisgarh
Synopsis Introduction Nano particles&Nano Scale. Particles size, shape and the nature of the surface Nanotechnology time line Definition and explanations A real revolution changes in nanotechnology. Applications. . .
Introduction of Nanotechnology The word “Nano” comes from a Greek word “Dwarf” and “technology” reference to dimension of 10 -9. Nanotechnology reference to ability to works with individual atoms and molecules. The field of nanotechnology was first proposed by Richard Feynman in 1959 in his influential speech “there is plenty of room at the bottom”.
Nano particles&Nano Scale
particles size, shape and the nature of the surface The size of most atom is 0. 1 to 0. 2 nm. Nanocluster, Nanorod, Nanostar, Nanoshere, Nanocube etc
Nature of Surface
Top-Down &Bottom up Approach Top-Down Approach: Physical method to Chemical method Bottom Up Approach: Chemical Method to Physical method
Nanotechnology time line 4 Century: - “Lycurgus Glass”(Rom) 6 -15 Century: - Glass window 1857 : - “Ruby gold” 1936: -Microscope 1947(IT): - Semiconductor Transistor 1956: - Molecular Engineering 1958: - IC chip 1959: - Feynman “There is plenty at the room of bottom” 1965: -Moore’s law 1974(NT): -Norio Taniguchi & Nanotechnology
1985: - Buck minister fullerine Bucky ball, brus descoverd SC Nanocrystl 1989: - Manipulates 35 indivisual zenon atom to spell IBM 1991: - CNT 2006: - Nanocar made by C 60 (Phenylene Ethynylene with 4 C 60 bucky ball)
Definition and explanations Feynman’s famous speech: - Richard Feynman lectured on “there is plenty of room at the bottom”. Moore’s Law: - ‘The number of transistors on Integrated Circuits (Ics) doubled every 2 years. This is prediction and not a low of physics. Norio Taniguchi & Nanotechnology : - The Japanese scientist used this term 1974 to describe the semiconductor process such as thin film deposition on the order of nanometer. He said: - “Nanotech mainly consist of the processing of separation, consolidation and deformation of materials by one atom or one molecules”.
A real revolution changes in nanotechnology happen When three major branches works togethernanotechnology, biotechnology & information technology(IT). Nanotech will be able to after self hilling and self assembling model. Biotechnology will contribute self replicating biological processes IT will gives system at molecules levels.
Applications. . Textiles: - Electro conducting textiles, medical textiles, selfcleaning textiles, UV textiles etc. Biomedical: - Control relies of drags, cancer therapy, wound dressing etc. Health care: - Imaging, Antibacterial, sun's cream, MRI , UV protection etc. Food Agriculture: - Fungicides, food packaging etc. Industrial: - Self-cleaning surface, functional nano composites etc. Electronics: - Quantum computer, high desisting data storage, single electrons transistor, Quantum laser etc. Environment : - Waste water treatment, pollution control monitoring etc. Renewable energy : - Paint on solar cells, Hydrogen production etc.
