Assessment Methods Students are assessed through district-made benchmarks (written & on-line), projects and other alternative methods. Department supervisors will provide you with further information about assessments when you meet with them. K-5 student report cards are a modified standards-based report card which mixes traditional grading with standards-based benchmarks (ES=Exceeding Standards, MS= Meeting Standards, AS= Approaching Standards, NS=Needs support) Rubrics are provided for ALL subjects and aligned to the report cards. MS and HS utilize traditional grading, A, B, C, D, or F on the report card. Data teams analyze district and state assessment data via on-line programs such as Pearson, Performance Matters & Real Time. Inquire with your principal if you are interested in participating on the data team!
Response To Intervention RTI is a multi-tier approach to the identification and support of students with learning and behavior needs. RTI also provides opportunities for above grade-level students to participate advanced activities in the classroom. RTI focuses on Differentiated Instruction to meet the needs of all learners, based on data from our Universal Screening Tool. This screening is done for all students and measures grades, reading and Lexile levels, attendance, as well as Social-Emotional components. Each grade level has a screening designed for their level. These will be done by classroom teachers during the month of September. Support will be provided during PLCs.
Personalized Learning RTI meets the needs of: English Language Learners Special Education Students At-Risk Students On-Grade Level Students Gifted & Talented
3 Tiers of RTI
RTI in Elementary Schools Schedules incorporate *WINN periods. Academic Interventionists, Reading Specialists, Guidance Counselors and Classroom teachers work with students based on the results of screening data during this period. Those struggling with Math & ELA will be provided direct intervention during this time. Those who are more advanced, will be provided with rigorous and challenging lessons. *WINN = What I Need Now
RTI in Middle and High School The MS provides Math and ELA RTI periods for students based on the results from the Universal Screening Tool. The HS implements a "Boilermaker Break" for students to choose from activities based on need as well as WINN time. There is a Graduation Academy for at-risk Jr. And Sr. Students Dual Enrollment classes have been increased for students to earn college credit while attending GHS. **Support will be provided to students identified at-risk regarding social emotional needs, attendance and tardiness at ALL levels.
Professional Development For now, all PD will be done virtually. As the year evolves, adjustments will be made based on health and safety guidelines.
