• Created in Word and converted to PDF for software that makes it interactive. Coursebook Considerations • Wanted a section for college/university offering dual credit/dual enrollment for students and parents to easily see choices. • Explain to students/parents different types of college credit. • Tuition Rates added so parents were informed of cost. • Show all weighted courses in one place so students/parents can make informed decisions. • Color code for parents to easily see grade levels.
• Online coursebook (https: //www. highschoolcourseguide. com/) Navigating the Coursebook
• Provide our students and parents with all college/university offerings with a note of Core 42 courses. • Keys are provided with color coded tables.
• Provide explanation of different college credits with complete information for each type.
• For students pursuing weighted courses, we have provided a complete list in one location.
• Provide Curricular Key and incorporated color to help students/parent easily recognize grade level for courses.
• Each department shows all the classes listed. • Example of Ag department below:
• Each department was allowed to select their own formatting for their paths. Here are examples of Family & Consumer Sciences as well as Journalism:
• Dr. Seago modernized our physical fitness courses and streamlined them to students wanting various levels of activity.
• We added icons for students/parents to identify class requirements. For example, the t-shirt below represents whether or not the student has to dress out in the physical education class. • Our district was able to procure a food truck (aka “The Dish”), and we denoted the classes the students could take that would involve the truck.
• Each class has a description and relevant information included. • Departments were required to review and approve their related sections of the coursebook.
Online Coursebook Advantages (Responses from our counselors) • Family Friendly • Available 24/7 • Easily visible during enrollment presentations. • Course requirements or college credit can change quickly, and online you can update for all parents instantaneously. • Our students have devices in grades 9 -12, so only print for our current 8 th grade students, so less cost and eco-friendly.
