Welcome to the 2 nd grade Jungle Part Classroom 2012 -2013 School Year
A FEW STUDENT GOALS Writing: • Writes for a variety of audiences and purposes, including telling a story and explaining. • Analyzes ideas, selects topics, adds detail and elaborates. Reading: • Becomes fluent as a reader, expands vocabulary and understands many different types of text. • Participates in discussions, writes responses and uses evidence from text to support thinking.
A FEW STUDENT GOALS CONTINUED Math: • Refines understanding of the base ten number system and uses place value concept of ones, tens, and hundreds to understand number relationships. • Begins to work with multiplication and division Science: • Learns to think systematically about how the parts of objects, plants and animals are connected and work together. • Learns to identify several different forms of energy.
WHAT TO EXPECT ** Fun educational projects and assignments ** An organized and safe environment for students ** Students will discover that learning can be fun as well as beneficial and appreciate its rewards ** All classroom rules will be posted throughout the classroom and will be followed ** A lot of in class and out of class projects to enhance learning
About Me • I have always wanted to be an Elementary teacher • I graduated from Missouri Western State University • This is my first year teaching • I love to be creative and learn • I can’t wait to get married and start a family
Homework & Projects Homework: -What students don’t get done during the school day. Projects: -There will be many projects done throughout the year, some will be done during class time and some might be asked to be done outside of class time. -I am a strong believer that doing projects help enhance the learning process.
