Arrival at School Class will start at 7: 30. Your child must be in

Arrival at School Class will start at 7: 30. Your child must be in our classroom by that time to avoid tardiness. If your child arrives after 7: 30, they must go to the office for a tardy slip. Tardy policy per parent handbook addendum 3 rd tardy-Written warning; students with perfect attendance and three or more tardies will not be recognized at the honor assemblies 5 th tardy-After school detention assigned; student’s ability to participate in extracurricular activities may be affected 7 th tardy-After school detention. Continued tardiness will result in disciplinary consequences. Please be sure your child is well-rested and ready to learn every day. If your child MUST be absent, please send a written excuse when your child returns. (Students who are not present 90% of the school year are at risk of not being promoted to the next grade level. ) Please schedule doctor appointments for after 9: 30 AM!

Dismissal is at 2: 45 If your child needs to leave early, you must go by the office to sign him/her out. If there is any change in your child’s regular transportation pick-up, we must be notified in writing or please call the office as soon as possible. If your student is participating in an after-school club, please remember to send a note or an email if they way they get home will change.

Class Work/Grading Policy Your child is expected to try his/her best and complete work

Class Work/Grading Policy Your child is expected to try his/her best and complete work in a timely manner. Report cards are sent out every 9 weeks. Progress reports will be sent out following the 3 rd and 6 th weeks of the grading period. Daily work/Quizzes=60%, Tests/projects=50%, of cumulative grade. 4 th grade will be a major adjusting period for your child; please be patient and supportive.

Homework • • Agendas should be initialed by a parent. Spelling words are given on Mondays and students are given time to write them in their agenda on Monday mornings. Practice/homework should be completed nightly and is due every Friday. (Tests are on Fridays) *challenge list In each student’s take home folder there will be a spelling menu handout to choose the spelling activity for the week. Students will read 20 minutes DAILY Homework: there is math homework to complete every night. Students are expected to write their homework down in the agenda daily as they enter the classroom. There is also a reading passage and grammar practice sent home weekly. Please practice multiplication and division facts daily with your child.

Rewards & Consequences · · · Rewards~ Priddy – Hoot Loot coupons are given

Rewards & Consequences · · · Rewards~ Priddy – Hoot Loot coupons are given based on extended effort and going above and beyond in work and actions at school. Reward coupons of the student’s choice are earned at 10 hoot loot coupons. Homework passes and extra recess are sometimes used when the classroom reaches a goal they have set for themselves collectively. Tatsch – Classroom tickets are given for positive behavior and kindness as well as class participation. At the end of the week six tickets are pulled and those students get to choose their reward from a list. Consequences~ Everybody gets a warning then… 1 or more might happen: loss of recess, write a letter home, detention (starting in January) and/or office referral Parents please check agendas daily. We will send notes about behavior in the agenda, via email, or phone calls. Class emails are sent out usually weekly to let you know of anything important coming up or reminders!

Assessments BOY, MOY, EOY Universal Screen for Reading & Math 2 Mock STAAR exams for Math, Writing, and Reading Imagine Learning Reading & Math Reading comprehension tests Math unit tests Spelling tests Your child will take the Writing STAAR Test in April. The Math and Reading STAAR tests will follow that in May. Some ways you can help your child include practicing multiplication facts and encouraging him or her to read at least 20 minutes each day.

Our Class… Eats lunch from 12: 10 -12: 40; Breakfast in the classroom is available to every student and is over at 7: 40 a. m. Graded work will go home as it is graded. Parent Center – Please login to parent center to check your child’s grades. Paper progress reports AND report cards are no longer provided, so being aware of your students grades through Parent Center is essential! Turn in box tops= money for Wortham Oaks!!
