Personal Potential The English Baccalaureate (EBacc) �Introduced by the Department for Education in 2011. �If you achieve a Grade C or above in the following subjects at GCSE you have achieved the Ebacc: 1. English Language, 2. Mathematics, 3. Double Science which could include Computer Science, 4. a Classical or Modern Foreign Language, 5. Geography OR History. �This is NOT a qualification or compulsory but it may become so for some degree courses in the future.

Personal Potential The English Baccalaureate (EBacc) �All students have the opportunity to take the EBacc at Reigate School. �However, unlike many schools we do not force any students to take this group of subjects. �This is because we believe that students are more successful when they enjoy their courses.

Why does it matter? 3. Social Potential �We also want students to be happy during Key Stage Four at Reigate School. �It is going to be difficult for them to be happy if they are taking courses they dislike. �They are almost certainly more likely to achieve a higher grade with a subject they enjoy.
