Your Future & 4 year colleges Rigorous & Balanced schedule all 4 years! 4 Years Math and Science Fine art (UC = 1 year of same class) World Language (2 -3 years minimum) ACT or SAT Reasoning/SAT subject tests NCAA – register with NCAA eligibility center College visits – use breaks to visit & ask questions. IB/AP courses will prepare you for the rigor of a college curriculum.
High School Minimum Graduation Requirements A minimum of 24 credits are required for high school graduation in the Bellevue School District. Students earn a 0. 5 credit for each class each semester. Additional graduation requirements are listed below. – minimum cumulative 2. 0 grade point average (Athletic/Activity eligibility also requires a 2. 0 GPA). – minimum of 40 hours of Community Service. – pass Reading, Writing, Math & Science sections of State Smarter Balance Testing. – Washington State History requirement.
Washington State History Requirement If you were not in BSD in 7 th and 8 th grade, you need to take the WA State History class. If you came from another district or a private school and took WA State History there, we will need proof to demonstrate that the requirement has been met or you will need to make up WA State History.
New to Bellevue School District in 11 th or 12 th grade If you came to WA State in the 11 th or 12 th grade- please check in with your counselor about meeting the state requirement. If you came to WA State and met state requirement for another state, please see your counselor.

Can you earn an IB Diploma if your first language is not English? Yes!!! The IB Diploma Program is flexible – you take Higher Level exams in your strengths. Some students are capable of taking composition and literature courses in their native languages through selfstudy. Students who are approaching fluency in two languages can earn a Dual Language Diploma.

English Options for 11 th graders You now have these classes to choose from: IB/AP Language and Literature HL 1: Course Content is focused on non-fiction and the study of language. This is a two year course. Students will take IB Language & Literature HL 2 in their senior year. IB Literature HL 1: Course content is focused on the study of the novel. Fiction works will be studied, some will be American Literature, some will be World Literature. This is a two year course. Students will take IB Literature HL 2 in their senior year.
If you are interested in a 2 -period, yearlong elective block class visit the new career center (now located in the library) TODAY to register. Ask for Ms. Gamrath. Available at Interlake: Welding (Agnew, Zero and 1 st periods) and Horticulture (Lindholm, 6 th and 7 th periods).
Running Start is a program that allows 11 th and 12 th grade students to take college courses at community and technical colleges. Running Start students have the unique opportunity to finish their high school diploma while earning college credit. **Important: Full-time Running Start students must be enrolled in a minimum of 15 college credits.
Attend the info meeting at the Parent University event on March 9 th starting at 6: 00 pm at IHS. Sign up for the placement testing or submit one of the alternative options for English or math placement. Attend a Running Start orientation meeting at BC. You must register online.
Your counselor will discuss the pros and cons of running start with you during your Junior Blitz appointment. Your counselor will also go over your graduation plan with you and sign off on your enrollment in running start. You will also be required to submit a full schedule request at Interlake in case you decide to not pursue running start classes.
Please Choose Carefully Courses will be offered next year only if enough students register this Spring to fill a class. It is very important that you think carefully about your choices now so that the courses you want will be available next year. Once your schedule is built, changing your schedule will happen only under extenuating circumstances.

Green form Fill out and return to your counselor. We will meet with you during the week of April 3 rd to to April 7 th. You will get a Blitz invitation from your counselor.
White form Health Forms must be returned with course selection forms. Make sure your PARENT fills this out!
Registration Due Dates Current 9 th grade students will meet with the counselors the morning of March 15 th and 16 th in your Social Studies class. Current 10 th grade students will meet with the counselors during the week of April 3 rd- April 7 th. You will receive an appointment reminder from Ms. Miller (counseling secretary) on the day of your appointment. Current 11 th grade students will meet with the counselors during the week of March 22 -31. You will receive an appointment reminder from Ms. Miller (counseling secretary) on the day of your appointment. * Blitz appointments will also be listed on the counseling center window.
