September 2020 • School starts on Wednesday 2 nd September 2020 • 2 nd / 3 rd / 4 th/ 7 th/ 8 th/ 9 th / 10 th are half days • 11 th is a full day and then full time from Monday 14 th September • Morning Session: 8: 45 am – 11: 45 am (times could possibly change) • Afternoon Session: 12: 20 pm – 3: 20 pm (times, could possibly change)

Early Reading • Teaching of Phonics begins straight away. • All children will be involved in a daily phonic session that will focus on reading/ writing. • Follow ‘Letters and Sounds’ • Phonics workshop for parents • Reading books (Collins Big Cat) matched to child’s phonic ability and sent home weekly.

Early Maths • Focused Maths sessions 3 x week. • Maths activities/ problems/ provocations

Hints and Tips… • Label everything your child will wear and own. • Get in to good learning habits at home – find quiet times, make home learning fun when your child isn’t too tired. • Encourage your child to be more independent over the summer – practise getting dressed for school and PE; pouring drinks; zipping and unzipping items; putting on shoes; numbers; names and letters; tidying up toys and equipment.
