Roxboro Community School Excellence in Education • State Tests - RCS students must take End-of-grade and End-of-course state tests. • Transportation - Unlike traditional public schools, RCS does not receive capital funding; therefore we do not have transportation funding to operate buses. • Lunch – Catered meals are available to order Tuesday through Thursday each week. Pizza can be purchased on Friday. Students must bring their lunch on Mondays or they can purchase a salad from the salad bar any day of the week.
Roxboro Community School Excellence in Education • RCS was chosen “Best Middle School” and “Best High School” in Person County by The Courier-Times. • RCS received a school report card grade from the NCDPI of a “B” for the 2018 -19 school year. • RCS has received a school report card grade of an “A” for three of the past five years. • RCS was recognized for Meeting Academic Growth Expectations for the 2018 -19 school year.

Drop-off & Pick-up ★ Supervision for students starts at 7: 30 am. ★ All students should be picked up from school by 3: 30 unless they are in tutoring with a teacher. RCS does not have a before and after school program.
Check-out Procedures ★ Front desk check-in/check-out. ★ High school students can not check themselves out. Parent contact must be made with approved mode of transportation (personal vehicle or approved person). ★ Emergency contacts ★ Legal documentation
Attendance ★ Regular school attendance is a critical element of the educational process and is often a factor in determining the success of students. ★ It is also important that students arrive on time.
RCS Attendance Policy After accumulating more than NINE absences in a semester for a specific class, students will be allowed to make up time-for-time only when granted approval by the Attendance Screening Committee. Absences above nine can only be resolved through time-for-time with proper documentation from parents. Without documentation, the decision will rest with the principal. The parent will receive notice of the Screening Committee’s decision. Excessive absences without approved documentation will result in the student receiving a 59 average or grade they earned if lower for the semester.
Attendance Notes ★ When your child is absent from school it is important that you email the teachers that day. ★ Please include all teachers and Mrs. Oakley in on the email. oakleykb@roxborocommunityschool. org ★ If you send a note to school, please have your child give it to Mrs. Graham at the front desk. Absentee notes written by the parent must be turned in within 3 days of the students returning to school.
Tardies ★ Students arriving after the 8: 00 tardy bell should report to the front desk to sign in. 1 st Tardy of the Semester: Warning 2 nd Tardy of the Semester: Warning 3 rd Tardy of the Semester: Warning 4 th Tardy of the Semester: 1 Hour CS 5 th+ Tardy of the Semester: Administrative Referral + 2 Hours CS CS = Community Service
Grading & Quality Point Scale A 90 - 100 B 80 - 89 C 70 - 79 D 60 - 69 F 0 - 59 HS - Quality point standards provide for an additional 0. 5 and 1. 0 points for Honors and AP or post high school credit courses respectively.

Dress Code - Middle School Young Ladies *Pants, shorts, or capri pants must be khaki material. *They must be in the following colors: khaki colored, navy blue or black. *Shorts can’t be higher than 2 inches above the top of the knee cap. * Shirts are to be any color polo/golf style shirt. Stripes are allowed. *Dresses and skorts are not allowed. Young Men * Pants or shorts must be khaki material. *Shirts are to be any color polo/golf style shirt. Stripes are allowed. * Shirts must be tucked at all times. * A belt must be worn at all times. Failure to meet RCS dress code requirements can result in office referral, parent involvement and/or suspension. Teachers have the authority to determine if apparel is detrimental to their class.

Dress Code RCS Hoodies are approved for MS and HS if worn with dress code appropriate shirt underneath.
Lunch ● All MS students eat in the dining halls. ● HS students have more freedom during lunch to eat in the dining halls, picnic benches. ● 11 th and 12 th grade students may leave campus, one student per vehicle, for lunch with parent approval.

Volunteer Requirements ★ RCS students will volunteer eight hours of community service each year. ★ Parents/guardians must complete at least four volunteer hours per semester.

Bulldogs Care Days ★ RCS students participate in 4 Bulldogs Care Days each academic year ★ The focus is community service ★ ER schedule, but school dismisses at 3 pm ★ Students participate in various community based projects from 1 pm - 3 pm ★ Projects are organized by teachers. ★ 8 hours of community service for students
